Energy consumption hits new records.

The continued heat wave affecting virtually the entire country meant that, from an energy standpoint, the first week of February ended as it began: with the Southeast/Central-West and South subsystems once again breaking records for instantaneous energy demand on the National Interconnected System.

The continued heat wave affecting virtually the entire country meant that, from an energy standpoint, the first week of February ended as it began: with the Southeast/Central-West and South subsystems once again breaking records for instantaneous energy demand on the National Interconnected System.

Thanks to the continued high temperatures and thermal discomfort indices during peak sunshine hours, the South and Central-West subsystems closed yesterday (6) exceeding previous results: at 15:47 pm, an average of 51.261 megawatts (MWm) were offered in the Southeast/Central-West Subsystem, a record compared to the 51.187 MWm demanded on Wednesday; in the South Subsystem, instantaneous demand reached 17.971 MWm, an index verified at 14:29 pm. The previous record had also occurred on Wednesday, when the index reached 17.771 MWm.  

In the special edition of Monthly Cargo BulletinIn a statement released yesterday, the National Electric System Operator (ONS) also reported a new power outage. Record instantaneous demand for electricity in the National Interconnected System. for the country's total last Wednesday (5). 85.708 MWm were demanded, a record broken at 15:41 pm, when the instantaneous demand of Tuesday (4), 84.331 MWm, was surpassed. In this case, it was the second record registered in the same week.
