BRICS countries are expected to grow by an average of 4,3% this year.

Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, which make up the group, and other emerging countries are expected to grow by an average of 4,3% until December, with a forecast increase to 5,3% in 2014; this estimate comes from the OECD's Economic Outlook study, released this Wednesday in Paris; China leads the list of emerging countries in terms of growth.

Brasilia – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, which make up the group known as BRICS, and emerging countries are expected to grow by an average of 4,3% until December, with a forecast increase to 5,3% in 2014. The estimate is from the Economic Outlook study, by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), released this Wednesday (29), in Paris, France.

According to the report, China leads the list of emerging countries in terms of economic growth, registering 7,8% this year and with the possibility of reaching 8,4% in 2014. Next comes India, with growth of 5,7% in 2013 and 6,6% next year. Brazil registered growth of 2,9% in 2013 and 3,5% in 2014. Russia is expected to register growth of 2,3% throughout the year and 3,6% in 2014. South Africa is projected to have economic growth of 2,8% by December and 4,3% next year.

According to the study, the most modest growth estimates are for Russia, Brazil, and South Africa, around 3% this year and next. China, however, is expected to surpass the United States and become the world's largest economy in the coming years, while India is projected to be overtaken by Japan.
