Bolsonaro is expected to set the minimum wage below the amount authorized by Congress.

The government of President Jair Bolsonaro is expected to set the new minimum wage at R$ 998, a source in the new government told Reuters, requesting anonymity; the forecast in the Union Budget for this year, approved by Congress, was that the minimum wage would increase from the current R$ 954 to R$ 1.006.

BRASILIA (Reuters) - The government of President Jair Bolsonaro is expected to set the new minimum wage at 998 reais, a source in the new government told Reuters, asking not to be identified.

The forecast included in the Union Budget for this year, approved by Congress, was that the minimum wage would increase from the current 954 reais to 1.006 reais, but former President Michel Temer decided to leave the definition of the new value to Bolsonaro.
