BNDES could finance mega airline merger
Banco BNDES is expected to hold approximately 20% of the fund created by businessman David Neeleman, owner of Azul Airlines, intended for the purchase of the Portuguese airline TAP and the American airline JetBlue, which he founded; the deal is expected to reach US$3,2 billion.
247 – In partnership with the Brazilian government, through BNDES, businessman David Neeleman, owner of Azul, is creating an investment fund aimed at buying the Portuguese airline TAP and the American airline JetBlue, which he founded.
The idea is to create a national giant with routes to Europe, Africa, and the USA.
The businessman has not yet confirmed the closing of the deal, but according to Folha, the bank should have around a 20% stake in the fund, initially investing US$600 million.
The total investment will initially be US$3,2 billion.
