André Esteves defends the taxation of dividends, but with one condition.
"The best system is to tax dividends," said the banker.
247 - Banker André Esteves, one of the founders of BTG Pactual, advocates for the taxation of dividends, on the condition of a reduction in corporate income tax.
"We have never been so close to a consensus. Are we going to have to tax dividends? Look, it's the best system to tax dividends. There's nothing wrong with that, but at the same time, we're going to reduce corporate income tax, in a way that is neutral," Esteves said at an event promoted by the bank this Tuesday (14), according to the Pipeline Value.
"It's a better, fairer, more modern, and more ethical tax system for society. I think we've reached good concepts and consensus, and I'm more excited about what we can achieve," added the banker, who had at least one recent in-person meeting with the Finance Minister, Fernando Haddad.
The taxation of profits and dividends was advocated by President Lula during the campaign. The PT's proposal is to bring the taxation of labor income closer to that of income obtained from capital.
