247 - Anapetro, the association that represents oil workers who are minority shareholders of Petrobrás, released this Thursday (29), the manifesto "Reconstruction, Integration and Transition", a letter of support for the candidate for President of the Republic Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

"It calls upon all Brazilians and shareholders to reflect on this new era, remembering that we are going through a decisive moment in the history of Petrobras and Brazil. Therefore, we understand that the only possibility of rescuing the strategic and sustainable role of the company in the national economy is to elect Lula," said the text signed by the president of Anapetro, Mário Dal Zot.

"While the major international oil companies – both state-owned and private – sought to diversify their production and moved towards becoming energy companies, Petrobras went in the opposite direction: it sold refineries, closed subsidiaries, abandoned the energy transition, and focused exclusively on its short-term results," he added.

According to Anapetro, "this misguided policy is now showing its economic and social costs." "Brazil has increased its dependence on petrochemical imports, and fuel prices in the domestic market have skyrocketed. Under the pretext of fluctuating international prices, Petrobras, despite its exploration and production costs being in reais, realizes its profits in dollars. While investors profit from dividend distributions, fuel prices are responsible for a significant increase in inflation."
