Agreements between Brazilian and Chinese companies are still expected to be announced on March 29, says Fávaro.

President Lula's visit to China had to be postponed due to a mild case of pneumonia. A new date for the trip has not yet been confirmed.

247 - Agreements between Brazilian and Chinese companies are still expected to be announced on March 29, despite President Lula being unable to travel to China due to pneumonia, according to Agriculture Minister Carlos Fávaro, as reported by Reuters. However, the signing of other broader agreements between Beijing and Brasília has been postponed.

Fávaro also said that the Chinese government will decide on a new date for President Lula's visit.

"All government actions are postponed, including those of the Ministry of Agriculture," said Fávaro, who arrived in China last week, in a press conference in Beijing.

"When the Chinese government is ready, with an available schedule, the visit will certainly be rescheduled, and we will return to continue signing all the memoranda and agreements."

The minister emphasized that his trip to China has already secured a significant gain, with Beijing approving the resumption of Brazilian beef imports and authorizing new processing plants. Sales to China were voluntarily suspended by Brazilian authorities on February 23rd, following the discovery of an atypical case of mad cow disease.

The Brazilian government announced on Saturday that President Lula canceled his high-profile trip to China during the week after being diagnosed with bacterial bronchopneumonia and a viral infection caused by influenza A. (With Reuters).
