Abílio will try to resist.

The cover story in Carta Capital magazine could be the start of an organized media campaign against the future owner of the Pão de Açúcar group.

247 - Titled “Abílio and the Sly One,” the cover story of this weekend’s Carta Capital magazine makes no secret of its intentions. It aims to deconstruct the image of Jean-Charles Naouri, owner of the Casino group, who is portrayed as cold, harsh, and treacherous, as well as, of course, a “sly one.” Thus, it would be reckless to allow someone with these attributes to become the owner of the largest retail chain in Brazil – something that is expected to happen on the 22nd, and Carta Capital laments depriving the retail sector “of a Brazilian leader.”

It all started in 2005, when Abílio Diniz, heavily indebted, sold his company to the French company Casino, in a contract that stipulated the transfer of control in 2012. Naouri waited patiently for seven years, but, on the eve of the signing of the contract that transfers control, Abílio continues to move to prevent this from happening.

The cover story, which praises Abílio and attacks Naouri, cites two sources: a "Mr. X," who knows Abílio well (and may be Abílio himself), and a French journalist who preferred to remain anonymous. Thus, the magazine constructs a series of attacks on the Casino owner and asks: "Is this really goodbye?"

It seems Abílio Diniz intends to resist. Is he the clever one?
