Thirty years without Bob

One of the most influential artists of all time passed away on May 11, 1981. Download a special compilation of 30 of Bob Marley's greatest hits from 247 to your iPad, or listen to some of his classics here.

247_ “Get up, stand up, stand up for your rights.” Stand up and shout for your rights. Yes, Bob Marley was a political artist. Or don't cry anymore, because “everything, everything, everything will work out,” as Gilberto Gil, his spiritual brother, sang in his version of “No Woman, No Cry.” But Bob Marley was also a musical genius, who made a local rhythm global and turned reggae into a synonym for freedom and melodic joy, with classics like “Stir it Up,” “Trenchtown Rock,” and “Three Little Birds,” among many others. The Jamaican, whose image is printed on the t-shirts of young and not-so-young admirers all over the world, is undoubtedly one of the great icons of the last century. As strong and as present (or even more so) than names like Elvis Presley and John Lennon. A complete artist who also made the fight for the decriminalization of marijuana, with songs like Kaya, a global struggle. Here at 247, we are all big fans of Bob Marley. And his most inspiring verse is from the song "War," which says, "We know we shall win, as we are confident in the victory of good over evil." In homage to this great artist, we've prepared a special edition with 30 of his hits in video format, which can be downloaded to your iPad. Download it now. And listen to "Stir it Up" now!
