247 - Love triumphed over the war drama. The French film "Amour," by Austrian director Michael Haneke, won the Palme d'Or for best film at the 65th Cannes Film Festival, which ended this Sunday. It is the second time he has taken home the most coveted statuette on the Croisette -- the first was in 2007, with the film "The White Ribbon."
"On the Road," an adaptation of Jack Kerouac's book directed by Brazilian Walter Salles, did not win. And the Ukrainian war drama "V Trumane" (In the Fog), which was a strong contender for the Palme d'Or, also left empty-handed.
