247 - The Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, paraded on Sunday night (19) in a float of Mangueira, on the first night of parades of the Special Group of samba schools in Marquês de Sapucaí, in Rio de Janeiro.
Before heading to the parade, she visited the VIP box of the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro (PL), and joked: "when are we going to sing together?". Castro is the author of two Catholic music albums.
In another VIP box, the minister met with the leader of the PT in the Chamber of Deputies, federal deputy Zeca Dirceu (PT-RJ), and the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD).
"Yesterday (Saturday) I went to Pernambuco. I've also been to Salvador, my hometown. And today I'm here in Rio. This is the moment for us to celebrate the return of Carnival. It's a festival where the Brazilian people from all regions express themselves. Besides, it's also a strong economic driver for the cultural sector," declared Margareth.
