Reuters Harry Potter fans will be able to bid on a piece of history next week when a book designed, handwritten and illustrated by JK Rowling goes up for auction at Sotheby's in London.
"The Tales of Beedle the Bard" is one of six copies the author made as gifts for those who helped bring the story of the boy wizard to life, and is expected to fetch between £300 and £500 at Tuesday's auction.
A seventh copy was produced for auction in 2007 for the author's charitable organization, Lumos, and fetched £1,95 million.
"The Tales of Beedle the Bard" is a volume of five wizarding fairy tales left by Albus Dumbledore to Hermione Granger in the last book of the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".
The manuscript that will be for sale was a gift for publisher Barry Cunningham, who hired Rowling and published her debut, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," and contains a personal dedication from Rowling.
