Conductor John Neschling loses labor lawsuit.

His severance pay for being fired by Osesp could reach R$ 4,3 million. It is still possible to appeal.

Conductor John Neschling lost his labor lawsuit against the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra Foundation (Osesp). Following a favorable ruling in the first instance in November 2009, Neschling's request was denied by the court on appeal, Osesp announced this Friday. According to a statement released by the foundation, the labor lawsuit filed by its former artistic director "was dismissed." He could have received R$ 4,3 million in compensation. The conductor initiated legal proceedings after being notified by email of his dismissal from the position in January 2009. Neschling had held the position since March 1997. An appeal is still possible.

"The Osesp Foundation hereby informs the public that the lawsuit filed against it by Maestro John Neschling has been dismissed in its entirety by the Regional Labor Court, which rejected his allegations and reversed the previous decision of the first instance court. We await the publication of this favorable decision and reiterate our conduct, always guided by ethical values ​​and strict legality."
