247 - The writer and columnist Luis Fernando Verissimo, 88, was admitted this Sunday (17) to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hospital Moinhos de Vento, in Porto Alegre (RS), with a case of early pneumonia. The information was confirmed by the family to the GZH portal and reported by g1.
Verissimo has been facing health problems for some years. Diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, he suffered a stroke in 2021 and also has a history of heart complications.
Born on September 26, 1936, in Porto Alegre, Verissimo is the son of fellow writer Erico Verissimo and has established himself as one of the most popular and prolific authors in the country, with over 80 published books.
