247 - English guitarist Jeff Beck, influential in the rock and blues genres and who rose to fame with the Yardbirds before later embarking on a solo career, has died at the age of 78.
The news was announced by the family on Instagram on Wednesday, the 11th. He passed away on Tuesday, the 10th, according to the family.
The artist, who had just finished a tour with Johnny Depp, died after contracting bacterial meningitis.
"On behalf of his family, it is with profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck's passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he passed away peacefully yesterday. His family requests privacy while they process this tremendous loss," the statement read.
