February 5 (Reuters) Four people were arrested Tuesday in connection with alleged links to drugs found at the home of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who died over the weekend from an apparent overdose, the New York Daily News reported, citing unnamed police sources.

The arrests occurred during a police raid on a property in Manhattan's Chinatown neighborhood, which police suspect is the source of the heroin found in Hoffman's home, according to the newspaper.

A New York police spokesman told Reuters that authorities found narcotics in the Chinatown building and that four people were arrested. He declined to confirm whether the arrests were directly related to the death of Hoffman, who won the Oscar for best actor in 2006.

A second police spokesman told Reuters on Tuesday night that the heroin found in Hoffman's apartment after his death was neither diluted nor mixed with fentanyl, a synthetic narcotic that health officials say has caused several overdose deaths in recent months.

"No fentanyl was found in the drugs," the spokesperson said.

Hoffman, 46, was found dead on Sunday on the bathroom floor of his apartment, with a syringe still stuck in his arm. About 20 packets of heroin were also seized from the property.

Preliminary autopsy results are expected to be released on Wednesday.

Hoffman, who leaves behind three children with his partner Mimi O'Donnell, had a long history of drug problems. The actor – considered one of the most talented of his generation – sought treatment last year after more than 20 years of abstinence.

A family representative said that Hoffman will be buried in a private ceremony, and that a public event will be held in the coming weeks.
