247 - Dilma Rousseff, Baltazar Garzón, Pilar Del Rio, Wilson Ramos Filho (Xixo). On January 15th, 16th and 17th, the seminar “¿La era del humanismo está llegando a su fin?” will be held in Seville, Spain. The event, organized by a group of institutions, including the Declatra Institute, will bring together experts from various countries to discuss the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Among the confirmed speakers are former President Dilma Rousseff, professors from Brazilian and foreign universities, the director of the Declatra Institute, Ricardo Nunes de Mendonça, and the institute's president, Wilson Ramos Filho, also known as Xixo.

The themes to be addressed during the three days of the event will deal directly with the universalization of human rights, human rights and resistance to neoliberalism, and the instrumentalization of discourse.

UNESCO, the José Saramago Foundation, the International University of Andalusia, and the Joaquín Herrera Flores Institute, along with the Declatra Institute and other institutions, support the holding of the Seminar.

The seminar brings together professors, academics from European and Latin American universities, jurists, sociologists, economists, and anthropologists in Seville, Spain, to reflect on the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The magazine Fórum gave prominence to the event:

"'Is the era of Humanism coming to an end?' Starting from this question posed by the Cameroonian philosopher Achille Mbembe, Latin American and European intellectuals and thinkers will gather in Seville, Spain, to debate human rights. The seminar '¿La era del Humanismo está llegando a su fin?' will be held on January 15th, 16th, and 17th."

"The whole world, in countries with more established institutions, is aware of what is happening in Brazil. It's impressive for those outside the country to see the number of articles and analyses in each newspaper about what is happening in Brazil. The articulation of right-wing sectors that has established itself has left the international media apprehensive about the possible implementation of fascist policies by the right-wing government in Brazil," analyzes Wilson Ramos Filho, known as Xixo, lawyer, professor, and president of the Institute for the Defense of the Working Class (Declatra). He will be moderating one of the panel discussions.

According to Xixo, the seminar was designed to discuss the issue of human rights in general terms. "Not only those rights considered first-generation rights, such as civil and political rights, but fundamentally, second and third-generation rights, that is, economic, social, and also the rights of collectives. Since the Temer government, several of these rights have been attacked, for example with the labor reform. And now, with the new government in power, we see marginalized populations being targeted by violent attacks from the right wing, whether they are LGBTI populations, indigenous populations, or majority black populations. The whole world is concerned about this," he believes.
