Caetano Veloso to The Guardian: 'Bolsonaro is confused and incompetent'

"Having a military government is horrible and Bolsonaro is so confused, so incompetent," Caetano Veloso told the British newspaper The Guardian.

247 - Singer Caetano Veloso harshly criticized Bolsonaro in an interview with a leading English newspaper: "Having a military government is horrible, and Bolsonaro is so confused, so incompetent. His government has done nothing," the artist told the newspaper. The Guardian newspaper"What has the Brazilian executive done in the period since he was president? Nothing... There has been no government - just a racket of insanities," he added.

The composer also described the pro-Bolsonaro demonstrations calling for the closure of the National Congress and the Supreme Federal Court, and the return of AI-5 (a decree that restricted freedom of expression in the country), as "an absolute nightmare."

In the interview, Veloso criticized the increase in deforestation in the Amazon and said that Bolsonaro has been pursuing a policy of dismantling culture in the country. "Everything that has been done in the Amazon has encouraged deforestation; everything that has been done in the cultural sphere has to do with dismantling... museums, theater groups, music and film producers," he added.
