At 50 years into her career, Gal Costa criticizes current censorship of the arts.

Censored by the military regime, Gal is frightened by "the anger of ordinary people" exposed in actions against works of art in current times; "The danger today is that you may unknowingly be fighting alongside prejudiced, homophobic people. That is the most dangerous thing," she reveals.

247 - Gal Costa, 72, maintains her well-known tranquility when commenting on "Estratosférica - Ao Vivo", her new DVD, which comes out on Friday (10).

Aside from the music, what stands out in the artist's speech is her fear of the current world, "crazy and intolerant." Censored by the military regime, Gal is frightened by "the anger of ordinary people" expressed in actions against works of art.

In the interview, she also gives her opinion on the 2018 elections—she wants to vote for Ciro Gomes—and offers clues about the routine of a "half-São Paulo mom" who is Brazil's biggest singer.

"The danger today is that you may unknowingly be fighting alongside prejudiced, homophobic people. That's the most dangerous thing."
