247 - Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has strengthened its recommendation to suspend the cruise season in Brazil, after several cases of Covid-19 were identified on board three ships. However, the final decision on the matter rests with the Ministry of Health.

According to the Twitter,  Anvisa (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency) has requested, through a statement, that passengers with scheduled trips in the coming days reconsider their travel plans, in order to protect their health and avoid potential disruptions such as trip interruptions, disembarkation at a port different from the planned one, or the possibility of an eventual quarantine.

"Despite the Agency's efforts in recent days to control the sanitary situation of the vessels, the actions are severely impacted by failures in complying with the protocols agreed upon for the start of the season," said Anvisa.

Currently, five cruise ships are on the Brazilian coast: the MSC Splendida, Preziosa, and Seaside, and the Costa Fascinosa and Diadema. The Splendida and Diadema are under quarantine. The Preziosa, which registered at least 20 cases of Covid-19 on board, docked in Rio and received authorization for new embarkations.
