Health secretaries confront Bolsonaro's manipulation and launch website with coronavirus numbers.
Commenting on the measure to combat the manipulation of Covid-19 data by the Bolsonaro government, the president of the National Council of Health Secretaries and Secretary of Health of Pará, Alberto Beltrame, stated that health management decisions should be guided by "science, truth, and accurate and timely information."
247 - The National Council of Health Secretaries, which brings together the managers of the 26 states and the Federal District, inaugurated this Sunday (7) a "parallel" portal to disseminate coronavirus statistics in Brazil, since the website provided by the Jair Bolsonaro government for updates on Covid-19 began to publish only data on confirmed cases and deaths caused by the disease in 24 hours, and no longer the total number of cases and deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
According to the council, the data will be updated daily at 17 pm – the time when the data is sent to the Ministry of Health for consolidation of the national bulletin. The federal government started releasing the data only at the end of the night, after 21:30 pm, last Thursday (4).
The data will be available on the Conass website. In a statement, the president of the council and Secretary of Health of Pará, Alberto Beltrame, said that health management decisions should be guided by "science, truth, and accurate and timely information."
As of 16:30 pm this Sunday (7), the Conass website showed 680.456 confirmed cases and 36.148 deaths of people with Covid-19.
