247 - The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday (8) refuted accusations made by Donald Trump. WHO Regional Director for Europe, Hans Kluge, stated that the “pandemic is still in its acute phase,” and that implementing the investment cuts threatened by US authorities would be “disastrous.” This information comes from the newspaper The Globe

Trump stated that the WHO is "Chinese-centric" and prioritizes the Chinese economy. US authorities also threatened to cut current financial donations to the organization.

Bruce Aylward, senior advisor to the organization's director-general, stated that China's assistance "was absolutely crucial in the initial part of this epidemic, having full access to everything possible, going there and working with the Chinese to understand it."

Bruce Aylward added that “this is what we did in all the other countries that were hit hard [by Covid-19], like Spain. It had nothing to do with China specifically.”
