247 - "Brazil is expected to reach a higher official death toll from Covid-19 this week than the total number of influenza deaths in the last ten years over an equivalent period." reports Monica Bergamo In Folha de S. Paulo. Between January and mid-April, 1.645 people died from influenza. Since the beginning of the pandemic in Brazil, 1,5 have died from coronavirus in Brazil.

With more than two hundred deaths in the last 24 hours and with the number increasing every day, the deaths from Covid-19 in the country will surpass this week (possibly on Wednesday, the 15th) the total number of influenza deaths for the decade, in the month of April, combined. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus is already greater than that of influenza in the entire year of 2019 (1.149), 2018 (1.348) and 2017 (514), separately.
