In São Paulo, 80% of Covid-19 cases are caused by Omicron.

Of the 105 samples analyzed, 85 were caused by the new strain.

Brazil Agency – Data from the Butantan Institute shows that 80,95% of COVID-19 diagnoses in the city of São Paulo are caused by the Omicron variant. Of the 105 samples analyzed by the Institute, 20 (19,4%) were positive for the Delta variant and 85 (80,95%) for Omicron.

According to the city hall, the Municipal Health Department (SMS) has intensified monitoring efforts and made rapid COVID-19 tests available for patients with flu-like symptoms.

The department advises individuals to maintain respiratory etiquette measures, such as wearing masks and using hand sanitizer, covering their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and washing their hands immediately after contact with respiratory secretions.
