247 - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received this Monday (27) the dose of the bivalent Covid-19 vaccine from the hands of Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, in a ceremony that was attended by Minister Nísia Trindade (Health) and Zé Gotinha, at Health Center No. 1 in Guará, administrative region of the Federal District.

President Lula defended the importance of collective immunization during the event. "I want to appeal to every mother, every grandmother, every father, every child: don't believe in denialism. I get vaccinated because I love life. Life is the greatest gift God has given us. Life is what makes us love and it must be preserved," said Lula.

The ceremony marked the launch of the National Vaccination Movement and sought to encourage vaccination against the disease. The previous government, under Jair Bolsonaro, disdained vaccines, leading to the deaths of nearly 700 Brazilians.

Starting this Monday, people over 70 years old, immunocompromised individuals, and members of indigenous, riverside, and quilombola communities will be able to receive a booster dose against Covid-19 with the bivalent version of the vaccines.
