Spain debuts in the World Cup with a 7-0 thrashing of Costa Rica.

With the resounding victory, Spain leads Group E and puts a strain on the German team, which lost to Japan 2-1 and risks being sent home if it loses to Spain on Sunday.

247 - The Spanish team put on a show in their debut at the Qatar World Cup this Wednesday (23), at the Al Thumama stadium, in Group E. In a match played against the Costa Rican team, the Spaniards scored 7-0 against their Central American opponents.

On the field, the Spanish team dominated the game, valuing possession, passing and incisiveness. Dani Olmo, Asensio, Ferrán Torres (2), Gavi, Soler and Morata scored the goals in the "calling card" of the 2010 champions.

With the thrashing, Spain leads Group E and scares the four-time champion Germany, who lost to Japan 2-1, in a match also played on Wednesday, and risks going home if they lose to Spain on Sunday (27).  

The second key match on Sunday features Costa Rica, who will be looking to bounce back early in the morning at 7:00 AM against Japan, who surprised Germany in their opening game.
