Organizations must demonstrate a commitment to climate change to participate in the COP30 Green Zone.
Open registration aims to map organizations with sustainable practices; participation does not guarantee a place, but is an essential step in the selection process.
247 - Public, private, and civil society organizations wishing to participate in the COP30 Green Zone must submit concrete proposals aimed at mitigating climate impacts and promoting sustainable development. According to information released by the Extraordinary Secretariat for COP30 (SECOP), this initial stage seeks to identify institutions with actions aligned with the climate agenda and with solutions to global environmental challenges.
This report is based on information provided by the official Green Zone website, which highlights the importance of institutional engagement in creating the event's thematic spaces. The Green Zone is an area dedicated to public participation in COP30, with thematic hubs addressing topics such as climate finance, innovation, biodiversity, youth, clean technologies, and other fundamental issues for advancing climate action.
Initially, organizations must complete an expression of interest form, available on the Green Zone website. Submitting this information, however, does not guarantee the allocation of a pavilion, but it is an essential step for analyzing the feasibility and compatibility with the event's objectives. "We are collecting information to better understand the needs and expectations of the accredited organizations," SECOP informed.
Interested institutions can choose between two pavilion models: standard — divided into bronze, silver, and gold categories — or customized, according to the characteristics and needs of each proposal. In addition, it is necessary to indicate the desired services, such as cleaning, audiovisual, internet, food, interpretation, and sales promoters.
After the form is submitted, an initial screening will be carried out by the organizing committee, which will perform a technical and thematic analysis of the applications. The shortlisted proposals will undergo a detailed review, and subsequently, the approved organizations will be notified and must officially confirm their participation.
The Green Zone promises to be one of the highlights of COP30, which will be held in Belém (PA), bringing together initiatives and impactful projects on a global, regional, and local scale. The active participation of civil society, the private sector, governments, and youth will be essential to strengthen the climate commitments made at the event.
