COP30 Amazon: event welcomes Ana Toni, Helder Barbalho and other authorities in Belém

The meeting will bring together experts and leading figures in the sector to discuss combating the global climate crisis.

247 - On Thursday (3), at 9:30 am, the newspapers Valor Econômico and O Globo, together with CBN radio, will hold the first event of the COP30 Amazônia editorial project in Belém. The edition, which is exclusive to invited guests, will discuss the fight against the climate crisis on a global scale. Together with authorities, experts and references for the international summit, the initiative seeks to facilitate public access to priority issues for Brazil.

The meeting will be divided into four main parts – the opening, led by Ana Toni, executive director of COP30, followed by three panels focusing on Brazilian representation and expectations regarding the summit. The opening panel will feature the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho (MDB); André Guimarães, a member of the Strategic Group of the Brazil Coalition; and Paulo Artaxo, a professor at the USP Physics Institute. The second panel will include the mayor of Belém, Igor Normando (MDB); biologist and climate change specialist Mercedes Bustamante; and Ima Vieira, a researcher at the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. The third and final panel will feature the president of the FIEPA system, Alex Dias de Carvalho; the general director and CEO of the Peabiru Institute, João Meirelles; and the sustainability director of JBS Brazil, Liège Vergili Correia.
