CGTN – On Wednesday (24), Chinese President Xi Jinping called on the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to build a modern, socialist Xinjiang region, characterized by unity, harmony, prosperity, wealth, cultural advancement and a healthy ecosystem, where people live and work in peace and with satisfaction.

Xi Jinping recalled that, throughout the 70 years since the establishment of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, cadres and the masses of people from all its ethnic groups have upheld national unification, ethnic unity, social stability, and promoted the socio-economic development of the region, as well as completing the construction of a moderately prosperous society within the planned timeframe, in parallel with all regions of the country. The Chinese leader expressed his congratulations and greetings to the local people on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
Xi Jinping reiterated that it is necessary to explore a high-quality development path in accordance with the region's resources and industries. At the same time, it is also essential to make every effort to maintain the social stability of Xinjiang.
The Chinese leader also stressed that, to promote the modernization of Xinjiang, the leadership and development of the Party are a fundamental guarantee.
