The National Center for Performing Arts hosted on Thursday (25) the reception for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. Chinese President Xi Jinping gave a video speech for the event.
He said that the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France 60 years ago was a major event in the history of international relations. With extraordinary wisdom and courage, Chairman Mao Zedong and General Charles de Gaulle opened their doors to exchange and cooperation between East and West, bringing hope to the world at that time, which was in the midst of the Cold War.
Xi Jinping emphasized that the unique history of Sino-French relations has shaped the "China-France spirit," which translates into independence, mutual understanding, vision, and mutual benefit. According to him, the two countries should resolutely develop these relations and respond to the world's uncertainties with their resilience; they should also take advantage of the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism and the Paris Olympic Games to expand people-to-people and cultural exchange; and they should jointly defend the multipolar order with horizontality and inclusive economic globalization, so as to contribute to safeguarding world peace and stability.
French President Emmanuel Macron also delivered a video message. He stated that his government has a responsibility to continue working, based on the ambitious goals established in 1964, to jointly build a partnership that not only satisfies the needs of both peoples but also leads to peace and stability in the world. France is willing to work with China to respond to global challenges and promote the resolution of international crises.
