Xi Jinping sends congratulatory message on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the FAO.

The Chinese leader stressed that the Chinese government attaches great importance to food security.

CGTN – Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message on Thursday (16) on the 80th anniversary of the creation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Xi Jinping highlighted that, over the past decades, the FAO has played a fundamental role in ensuring global food security, promoting rural development and the transformation of food systems, as well as improving the lives of populations.

The Chinese leader emphasized that the Chinese government attaches great importance to food security and has been committed to ensuring, through its own efforts, the supply of food for more than 1,4 billion people. Furthermore, the country has offered assistance to nations in need, contributing to global food security.

The president also stated that China will continue to firmly support the essential role of the FAO in the international field of food and agriculture. The country is willing to work with the international community to implement the Global Development Initiative, promote the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and drive the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, contributing more broadly to the well-being of people in all countries.
