Xi Jinping sends message of condolence for the passing of the former president of Laos.

CGTN – The General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPP) and President of the country, Xi Jinping, sent a message on Wednesday (2) to the General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and Lao President, Thongloun Sisoulith, in which he expresses deep feelings for the passing of the former President of Laos, Khamtay Siphandone, and extends sincere condolences to his family.

In the message, Xi Jinping said that Comrade Khamtay was a staunch communist, an extraordinary leader of the older generation of the LPRP and of Laos, close to and a friend of the CPC and the Chinese people, who dedicated his entire life to the cause of reform and socialist construction in Laos and made important contributions to the development of relations between the two parties and the two nations. "The CPC, the government and the Chinese people will always remember Comrade Khamtay," the Chinese president noted.

According to Xi Jinping, China and Laos, as two socialist states, are good neighbors, friends, comrades, and partners. China attaches great importance to consolidating and continuing the traditional friendship between the two parties and the two countries. It also wants to work with the Lao side to promote the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future, as well as the continuous and greater development of their respective socialist causes.
