Xi Jinping arrives in Urumqi for celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

CGTN – Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Tuesday (23), to participate in celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the region's founding.

The Chinese leader and his delegation received a warm welcome from people of various ethnic groups in Xinjiang, both at the airport and in the city of Urumqi.

Xi Jinping is accompanied by Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and head of the central delegation, as well as Cai Qi, director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee. Both are members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
