In a message to the Governor-General of Jamaica, Patrick Allen, Xi, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, expressed his sorrow for the fatalities and offered sincere condolences to the bereaved families, the injured, and the affected communities.
Describing Jamaica as a strategic partner of China, Xi expressed China's willingness to offer assistance to Jamaica, supporting the Jamaican people in overcoming the disaster and rebuilding their homes soon.
Also on Monday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang sent a message of condolence to his Jamaican counterpart, Andrew Holness.
