Prelude to the Spring Festival Gala takes place in Nairobi.
The Spring Festival Gala produced by CMG has accompanied Chinese people around the world for 42 consecutive years on the eve of the Lunar New Year.
CGTN – The Spring Festival Gala Prelude was held on Wednesday (22) in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
The Under-Secretary-General and Director-General of the United Nations Office in Nairobi, Zainab Hawa Bangura, the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Guo Haiyan, and more than 300 guests attended the event.
The chairman of China Media Group (CMG), Shen Haixiong, gave a video speech. He indicated that currently almost a fifth of the world's population celebrates the Chinese New Year, which has not only been designated a UN holiday but has also been placed on the list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Zainab Hawa Bangura said that the Spring Festival has become a universally accepted, recognized, and appreciated symbol of Chinese culture around the world.
Guo Haiyan highlighted that the event is the oldest, grandest, and most culturally profound traditional festival in China.
