CGTN – The cultural and interpersonal exchange event “Echo of Peace”, co-organized by China Media Group (CMG), the China Cultural Center in Seoul and the National Memorial Hall of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, was held this Thursday (21) in Seoul, capital of South Korea, with the presence of more than 200 guests, coming from the political, historical, media and cultural sectors of the country.
Shen Haixiong, vice-head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the CMG, delivered a video speech. He recalled that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The vice-head stated that fascism was defeated through the bloody struggles of the Chinese people and the mutual support of global forces of justice, emphasizing that wisdom and strength must be drawn from this history to face the challenges in today's turbulent world.
The Chinese ambassador to South Korea, Dai Bing, stated that some countries and forces have deliberately distorted the history of World War II for geopolitical reasons, attempting to cover up the invading wars and their atrocities. The diplomat pointed out that this is a humiliation to the victim countries and the peoples who suffered, as well as an outrage against international justice, and is rejected by China, South Korea, and all nations seeking peace.

Dai Bing recalled that the two countries are neighbors and important partners. According to the ambassador, 80 years ago, the two nations resisted the invasion of Japanese militarism together, defending independence and national dignity with blood and lives. "Today, the two countries promote exchange and cooperation in various sectors, aiming to bring greater well-being to their peoples through common development," he pointed out.
