CGTN – The cultural and interpersonal exchange event “Echo of Peace”, co-organized by China Media Group (CMG) and the Chinese Embassy in Russia, was held this Monday (18) in Moscow, the capital of Russia, with the presence of more than one hundred guests.

Shen Haixiong, vice-head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the CMG, delivered a video speech. He recalled that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. According to the vice-head, fascism was defeated through the bloody struggles of the Chinese people and the mutual support of the world's forces of justice.

“During the war years, Soviet air force pilots providing aid to China sacrificed themselves; Canadian doctor Norman Bethune and Indian doctor Kwarkanath Kotnis saved Chinese lives; John Rabe of Germany and Bernhard Arp Sindberg of Denmark protected Chinese refugees with all possible means during the Nanjing Massacre,” said the CMG chairman. Shen Haixiong also stated that the Chinese people cherish these touching acts and noble characters, emphasizing that it is necessary to draw wisdom and strength from this history to face the challenges in this turbulent world.
