CMG hosts Spring Festival Gala in the United Arab Emirates

CGTN – The action “Prelude to the Spring Festival GalaThe event, organized by the China Media Group (CMG), was held on the 26th in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Shen Haixiong, vice-head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of CMG, delivered a speech via video. The Chinese ambassador to the UAE, Zhang Yiming, attended the event and gave a speech. Approximately 300 guests were in attendance, including media representatives from both countries and Chinese institutions operating locally, as well as various personalities from diverse sectors.

Shen Haixiong stated that the Spring Festival is one of the most important traditional holidays for the Chinese nation, a grand celebration that integrates the country's diverse culture. Currently, the Festival is recognized and loved worldwide. The CMG has been hosting the Spring Festival Gala for 42 years, making it an indispensable event for over a billion Chinese people on New Year's Eve, and a cultural memory for those living outside of China.

This year's edition will be the first since the festival became an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The CMG will leverage its linguistic resources to broadcast the event in 82 languages, as well as apply "5G+4K/8K+AI" technologies to provide a visual and cultural feast full of "joy, happiness and prosperity" to global viewers.

Ambassador Zhang Yiming highlighted that the Spring Festival Gala has become a cultural symbol and a bond of affection. Last year, when the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United Arab Emirates was celebrated, the two countries held a series of cultural events. He extended an invitation for more friends of the UAE to visit China and experience its rich culture.
