247 - Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Cristiano Zanin has scheduled a hearing for April 29th to determine whether to accept the charges against one of the groups accused of planning actions to facilitate a coup attempt in 2022. According to... Folha de S. PaulThis is the second of five groups denounced by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) for participating in the coup plot following the victory of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the elections.

The targets of this complaint are the former director-general of the Federal Highway Police (PRF), Silvinei Vasques; the former head of intelligence at the Ministry of Justice, Marília Ferreira Alencar; the former director of operations at the Ministry of Justice, Fernando de Sousa Oliveira; retired General Mario Fernandes—author of the "Green and Yellow Dagger" plan—as well as former advisors to Jair Bolsonaro, Marcelo Costa Câmara and Filipe Martins.

The trial will take place in the First Chamber of the STF. The Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, expressed himself last Tuesday (18) in favor of accepting the complaint against the six accused, who have already presented their preliminary defense. At this stage, the Supreme Court assesses whether there are formal elements to transform the accused into defendants. If the complaint is accepted, a criminal action will be opened for the instruction of the process.

In addition to this group, two other groups accused of participating in the coup plot already have trial dates in the First Panel. The central group, which includes Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and seven other people, will be judged on March 25 and 26. The military group, composed of General Estevam Theophilo, ten officers, and a federal police officer, will have its charges analyzed in a session scheduled for April 8 and 9.
