Wellington Dias, governor of Piauí, rebuts Lira's proposal regarding fuel price increases.
"The proposal doesn't solve the problem and even creates an imbalance for states and municipalities," criticized the governor of Piauí, in response to Lira.
Metropolises - The governor of Piauí, Wellington Dias (PT), stated this Sunday (January 16th) that the proposal defended by the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), does not solve the problem of high fuel prices.
On the contrary, it still causes imbalance to states and municipalities, added the Workers' Party member.
Early, Lira went to social media and shifted the responsibility for approving the bill to the Senate., which aims to mitigate the effects of price increases.
The Speaker of the House took the opportunity to criticize the governors. “Now, at the start of an election year, governors, with Wellington Dias at the forefront, are demanding solutions from Congress. With state coffers overflowing with so much revenue and looking ahead to October, they've decided it's time to lower the price,” Lira exclaimed.
"They could have put pressure on us last year," continued the congressman from Alagoas.
The governor of Piauí reacted and also said that the proposal defended by Lira was approved in the Chamber without any dialogue or technical basis. The matter changes the way the Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) on fuels is calculated.
