247- During her visit to the Javari Valley, Minister Rosa Weber, president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and the National Council of Justice (CNJ), pledged to resume the trial regarding the temporal framework in the first half of the year, after hearing directly from representatives of indigenous peoples during a visit to the Paraná Village this week, reports the newspaper Valor Econômico.

With Justice Edson Fachin as the rapporteur, the case discusses whether the date of the promulgation of the Federal Constitution, October 5, 1988, should be adopted as the temporal benchmark for the demarcation of indigenous lands. Although the trial has begun, it was interrupted by a request for review and should return to the plenary agenda by June.

"The minister also heard concerns from various leaders about the increased vulnerability of the community and the forests due to the advance of illegal mining and other criminal groups, the dismantling of the National Indigenous Peoples Foundation (Funai), and the lack of public policies," the report highlights.
