247 - The PT leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Lindbergh Farias (RJ), stated this Tuesday (1st) that the urgency request for the Amnesty Bill will not be included on the House's agenda. The bill seeks to prevent the accountability of participants in the anti-democratic acts of January 8th.

In a press conference, Lindbergh stressed that the proposal does not have sufficient support and is not of interest to Parliament.

"As expected, there will be no urgent vote on the Amnesty Bill. This is an issue that is not in the Parliament's interest. Parliament has to vote on issues of national interest. Imagine us being paralyzed at a moment like this, discussing a project that only interests Jair Bolsonaro," he stated.

The congressman also warned of the risks of the bill. "The leaders of the parties, of the center, know that this agenda paralyzes the country and drags the Legislative Branch into an institutional crisis," he declared.

Lindbergh also mentioned the ruling that overturned the pardon granted by Jair Bolsonaro (PL), which had extinguished the sentence imposed on former congressman Daniel Silveira. In a statement to the press, the congressman highlighted the vote of Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Luiz Fux, who argued that "a crime against the Democratic Rule of Law is a political crime that cannot be pardoned."

"This proposal is so absurd. Bolsonaro's trial is about to begin. For Parliament to vote on the urgency of an amnesty is to interfere in an independent trial conducted by the Supreme Federal Court," he said. "We don't have the right to obstruct an investigation that is taking place in the Supreme Court. And have you read the amnesty bill? In fact, it's not just about January 8th, it's about everything. They are concerned about Operation Green and Yellow Dagger."

The "Green and Yellow Dagger" plan was revealed by the Federal Police as part of Operation Countercoup. It called for the assassination of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

"This Amnesty Bill will not be voted on this week, it is not under discussion, there is no leaders' meeting today, there is no leaders' meeting tomorrow. The leaders' meeting will take place next Thursday," Lindbergh added.

Obstruction in the Chamber

Also on Tuesday, Bolsonaro met with leaders of the Liberal Party to discuss strategies to push for a vote on the urgent request for the Amnesty Bill. If the request does not move forward, the opposition party, which has the largest bloc in the Chamber of Deputies with 92 representatives, says it will obstruct voting in the plenary.
