A statement of this nature causes some discomfort, says the president of the Senate.

247 - The president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (DEM), who is in Amapá fulfilling a work agenda, said that President Jair Bolsonaro's statement about the Armed Forces and democracy causes "a certain discomfort" and argued that it is necessary to strengthen the institutions.

"A statement of this nature causes some discomfort in relation to the segment that understands a message differently from another segment," said Alcolumbre, who is in Amapá fulfilling his agenda.

"That was a statement from the president. From my point of view, as president of the Senate, I want to strengthen the institutions, strengthen democracy," the senator stated, warning that Bolsonaro governs for all Brazilians and not just for those who elected him.

During the anniversary ceremony of the Marine Corps, this Thursday (7), Bolsonaro said that democracy only exists when the Armed Forces allow it.

"The mission will be accomplished alongside the good people of our Brazil, those who love the homeland, those who respect the family, those who want closer ties with countries that have an ideology similar to ours, those who love democracy. And this, democracy and freedom, only exists when its respective Armed Forces so desire," Bolsonaro stated.
