One in five voters uses WhatsApp and Facebook to share information.

Research conducted by the Datafolha Institute indicates that 20% of Brazilian voters use WhatsApp and Facebook to share and disseminate information about elections and politics; according to the survey, WhatsApp is the most used social network by respondents (62%) for dissemination, which corresponds to one in five voters; Facebook is used by 55% of the electorate.

247 - Research conducted by the Datafolha Institute indicates that 20% of Brazilian voters use WhatsApp and Facebook to share and disseminate information about elections and politics. According to the survey released this Thursday (23), WhatsApp is the most used social network by respondents (62%) for dissemination, which corresponds to one in five voters. Those who seek information through the application make up 35% of respondents. Facebook is used by 55% of the electorate.

Despite being behind WhatsApp, Facebook is the social network most used by voters to seek information about politics and elections. According to the survey, 40% of respondents use Facebook to read and share information on these topics. In total, 72% stated that they access the internet frequently and have an account on some social network.

Voters most active on social media declared their intention to vote for presidential candidate João Amoêdo (Novo), followed by voters of Jair Bolsonaro (PSL).

The survey polled 8.433 voters in 313 Brazilian municipalities and has a margin of error of two percentage points, plus or minus. The confidence level is 95%. The survey was conducted between August 20 and 21 and was registered with the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) under number BR-04023/2018.
