WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump will sign an executive order on Wednesday effectively banning transgender girls and women from participating in women's sporting events at schools and colleges, a White House official said.

The executive order, titled "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports," would fulfill a promise made by Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign. The order was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Since taking office, the Trump administration has broadly targeted transgender rights. Officials have already begun taking steps to remove at least one transgender member from the U.S. military and have rejected transgender applicants, according to a court document.
