Temer announces Armed Forces against 'disorder'
At the head of a government considered illegitimate by a large part of the Brazilian population, Michel Temer made a serious announcement this Monday, the 13th: "The federal government has decided to place the Armed Forces at the disposal of any and all instances of disorder in Brazilian territory," declared the PMDB member in a press conference this morning. Temer authorized the sending of military personnel to help police Rio de Janeiro, after having sent troops to Espírito Santo. Both states are experiencing a security crisis, which requires help from the federal government, but Temer's statement is generic, without specifying what might constitute "any instance of disorder."
247 - At the head of a government considered illegitimate by a large part of the Brazilian population, Michel Temer made a serious announcement this Monday, the 13th, during a press conference at the Planalto Palace.
"The federal government has decided to make the Armed Forces available for any and all instances of disorder on Brazilian territory," declared the PMDB member.
He authorized the deployment of military personnel to assist policing in Rio de Janeiro, in response to the movement by police officers' wives, after having already sent troops to Espírito Santo.
Both states are experiencing a security crisis, which requires help from the federal government, but Temer's statement is generic, without specifying what could constitute "any possibility of disorder".
The statement comes shortly after Temer went to court to censor the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo, in order to prevent the case of the hacker who cloned the cell phone of the first lady, Marcela Temer, from being published in the press.
