247 - MDB presidential candidate Simone Tebet expressed her repudiation of Eduardo Bolsonaro's (PL) publication on Monday (5), in which the son of the current head of the Executive He called on Brazilian gun buyers to "become Bolsonaro's volunteers."

“I deeply regret that, on the eve of September 7th, the president and his sons are inciting the population to arm themselves. It is regrettable, unbelievable and inadmissible that one of the president's sons posted a message to his 'soldiers': take up arms, use weapons, you who are part of it, you who have a legal weapon, let's be disciples of the president. He is giving a signal for something that democracy prohibits and we repudiate it,” Tebet stated in a meeting with the board of the National Association of Federal Prosecutors this Tuesday (6). The statement was retrieved by the newspaper Economic value.

The senator spoke of 'defending democracy' and indirectly mentioned a Bolsonaro-backed threat of a military coup, recalling what happened in the country in 1964: “We are ready to defend democracy. Our candidacies represent that. We are a shield. Alongside the press, alongside the National Congress. One day, the National Congress was closed from the outside (in the 1964 coup). Nobody will close it (this time).”

“Brazil is a country of peace, Brazil is not a country of trigger fingers, but of outstretched hands for those in need. There is no free and independent country when 33 million Brazilians go hungry. Brazil is not independent when it excludes minorities, when it simply encourages hatred and violence against those who think differently. So, in this respect, I am extremely confident that if there are a handful of people wanting to cause trouble, there will be millions of Brazilian soldiers with the flag of peace to bring peace,” Tebet concluded.
