Army Commander named in a report by the Federal Court of Accounts as responsible for waiving bidding processes totaling R$ 15 million; case involves 28 officers; companies contracted by the Department of Engineering and Construction (DEC) between 2002-06 were linked to military personnel.

247 – General Enzo Peri, commander of the Army, has gotten himself into even more trouble. Now, at the Federal Court of Accounts. He, who is already under investigation, along with seven other officers, by the Military Justice Prosecutor's Office, appears as the main figure in an official report from the body. Between 2003 and 2007, when he headed the Army's Engineering and Construction Department (DEC), Peri allegedly waived bidding processes for contracts totaling approximately R$ 15 million.

Instead of opening bidding processes for service contracts and construction projects, he allegedly contracted companies linked to the military. The scheme reportedly involved 26 officers, including 8 generals, 8 colonels, 5 lieutenants, 3 majors, and 2 captains, according to a report by Marco Antônio Martins in the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper, published in today's edition.
