Tabata says she will not campaign for Lula, but that she will vote for him in the second round.
"My inclination is not to vote for the PT in the first round, but I will have no doubts about doing so in the second round, as I did in 2018," said congresswoman Tabata Amaral (PSB).
247 - A supporter of the so-called "third way," which is only sinking, federal deputy Tabata Amaral (PSB) said, in an interview with the newspaper... The State of São PauloShe stated that she will not campaign for former president Lula even if her party forms an alliance with the PT. She said she will not be forced by the PSB to campaign for the PT candidate.
“I was never forced to say that I would support a specific candidate,” she said. “My party never asked me to do that,” she stated. However, the congresswoman believes that the affiliation of former São Paulo governor Geraldo Alckmin, considered a potential vice-presidential candidate for Lula, to her party “contributes to making this conversation as broad as possible.”
Given the lack of agreement to formalize the alliance, PT and PSB requested more time from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to carry out the party federation.
“I will respect any decision my party makes, because I am participating in this process and can be heard, and can present my side, which is against the federation with the PT. This internal democracy made me choose the PSB. That was the main reason, because of the large progressive parties, it was the one that didn't have an owner. It's the one with several leaders who disagree, who go to the debate,” said Tabata, who was from the PDT, controlled by Ciro Gomes.
Regarding not supporting Lula against Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the congresswoman stated that "obviously, my first commitment is against Bolsonaro, always and forever, but with a solution that looks to the future, that unites Brazil."
“My inclination is not to vote for the PT in the first round, but I will have no doubts about doing so in the second round, as I did in 2018. The only thing that is at stake is: if there is a federation, everyone is together. Is that what I would like? No. Is that what I think is good for the PSB, a large party with history? No, I think it's very bad for the PSB, but I will continue. I have never been forced to say that I would support a specific candidate,” she continued.
