Supreme Court upholds airfare allowance for spouses of parliamentarians.

The Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) rejected the lawsuit questioning the extension of the airfare allowance for spouses of federal parliamentarians; despite denying the preliminary injunction requested by Congressman Carlos Sampaio (PSDB-SP), STF Justice Teori Zavascki requested further information from the Chamber of Deputies; however, the decision may be reviewed by Zavascki himself, once he has received the requested information, or by the full STF.

247 - The Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) rejected the lawsuit questioning the extension of the airfare allowance for spouses of federal parliamentarians.

According to a writ of mandamus filed by Congressman Carlos Sampaio (PSDB-SP), the measure would have to be approved by the Plenary of the Federal Chamber and not through a decision by the House's Board of Directors.

Despite denying the preliminary injunction, Supreme Court Justice Teori Zavascki requested further information from the Chamber of Deputies. However, the decision may be reviewed by Zavascki himself once he has received the requested information, or by a decision of the full Supreme Court, which is responsible for judging the merits of the case.
